Please join us in the Hibben Center Auditorium next Wednesday (Mar. 27) from 5:30 to 7:30 PM for a lecture by notable scholar Dr. George Lopez - Chair of Peace Studies at the Kroc Institute for International Peace Studies at Notre Dame University. This event is free and open to all students, faculty and members of the public - snacks and refreshments will be served!

Dr. Lopez will be speaking about the continued importance of Nuclear Disarmament despite the rise of North Korea and Iran as potential regional nuclear threats. He is a member of the United Nations Panel of Experts for monitoring and implementing UN Sanctions on North Korea, has spoken extensively on the subject around the world and has written numerous academic papers in support of his conclusions. This event is funded by a supporting grant from the United States Institute of Peace, where Dr. Lopez has served as the 'Senior Jennings Randolph Fellow'. This will be a great, informative lecture ideal for people interested in a variety of subjects surrounding issues of nuclear weapons.

(special note - there will also be a follow-up lecture on Thursday, Mar. 28 on Social/Environmental Justice curriculum development led by Dr. Lopez from 12:15 to 1:45 PM in the Thunderbird/Mirage room of the UNM SUB - all interested faculty/grad students and other teachers are welcome to attend - snacks will be available!)
