Daniel Ellsberg: Preventing Extermination Of Humanity By Nukes | August 6, 2018 Hiroshima-Nagasaki Action at Livermore Lab 8 AM

"…The chart in my book, which I reproduce from memory—a very simple chart. I’m sure I have it right. [The chart] indicated that they expected to kill with our own first strike some 325 million people in the U.S.S.R. and China. Since they had an answer to that so quickly, they clearly had a model to go on, and I asked for how many would be killed altogether. And that figure added up to 600 million, a hundred Holocausts as I saw it."

DANIEL ELLSBERG ON A LIFE DEDICATED TO PREVENTING NUCLEAR ATTACK THAT WOULD RESULT IN NEAR-EXTINCTION OF HUMANS

podcast ---- Click here to LISTEN! – Daniel Ellsberg is best known as the whistleblower who released the Pentagon Papers, which exposed what United States government officials really knew and thought about the Vietnam War. But he also worked as a nuclear war planner when he was a RAND Corporation researcher and consultant for the Defense Department.

In a recently published book, “Doomsday Machine: Confessions Of a Nuclear War Planner,” Ellsberg recounts his journey as he discovered how close a nuclear strike by the United States government or a war between the U.S. and Soviet government could bring the Earth’s population to near-extinction.

From the late 1950s to the 1960s, he uncovered several traits of U.S. nuclear war plans that would produce quite devastating results for humanity. He attempted to persuade U.S. officials to address them and achieved rather mixed results.

On the “Unauthorized Disclosure” weekly podcast, Ellsberg highlights how he came to learn the military’s estimate for how many hundreds of millions of people would die if a nuclear attack was launched. He describes how there was no way to call back pilots if an execute order was given. He shares how his father refused to be part of the production of the H-bomb and talks about how he had classified documents on nuclear matters, which he planned to release until they were tragically lost.

12/11 SF Japan Consulate Protest-Stop The Restarting of NUKES In Japan And Defend The Families Of Fukushima | No Nukes Action Committee

12/11 SF Japan Consulate Protest-Stop The Restarting of NUKES In Japan And Defend The Families Of Fukushima
Monday December 11, 2017 3:00 PM
San Francisco Japanese Consulate
275 Battery St./California St.
San Francisco
Despite the continuing radiation from the Fukushima nuclear catastrophe the Japanese Abe government continues to restart other nuclear plants in Japan. They are also preparing for a major earthquake that might kill over 200,000 people. The restarting of Japanese plants is a threat to the world. Another major earthquake in Japan could not only destroy Japan but also contaminate the entire world with nuclear radiation. No Nukes Action Committee has been organizing since the Fukushima meltdowns to defend the people of Fukushima and Japan and demanding that the Japanese Abe government stop the continued work to push nuclear power in Japan. The government is denying the growing thyroid cancer epidemic dangers and are pressuring the people of Japan to remain silent and accept their contamination. The Japanese Abe government has also said to the Olympics committee and the world that the Fukushima nuclear disaster has been overcome and Fukushima has been “decontaminated” This is a lie and propaganda. They have also said that you can “overcome” radiation. At the same time they have passed a secrecy law and conspiracy law that will be used against journalists and whistleblowers who are exposing the continued dangers at Fukushima.

They are also seeking to militarize and prepare for a new war with the introduction of nuclear weapons in Japan and in Okinawa where the government continues to build US military bases in preparation for a war against North Korea and China.

The militarization of Asia is the expansion of nuclear plants and nuclear weapons and we must speak out to stop these dangers and defend the people of Fukushima.

★1111 GENPATSU ZERO

Metropolitan Coalition Against Nukes-

8.21 NYC Rally: No War With North Korea!

RALLY OUTSIDE OF SENATOR SCHUMER AND SENATOR GILLIBRAND'S OFFICES
Hosted by Peace Action New York State

Tell Senators Schumer and Gillibrand:
NO WAR WITH NORTH KOREA
NO MORE WAR
NO MORE NUCLEAR WEAPONS
TAKES NUKES AWAY FROM TRUMP

Starting this Monday, August 21 until August 31, U.S. and South Korean forces will kick off the Ulchi Freedom Guardian joint military drills, highly provocative and threatening rehearsals for war involving tens of thousands of soldiers simulating surgical strikes on North Korea.

Pyongyang revoked its threat against Guam - and said it would wait to see what the United States would do! We cannot risk the safety of our allies, troops abroad, Guam residents, North Korean families and U.S. citizens because this Administration refuses to even acknowledge that there are diplomatic solutions on the table.

A proposal on the table to avert war and start talks is “freeze for freeze” in which North Korea suspends its nuclear and missile testing in exchange for halting or scaling back massive US-South Korean military exercises. A growing number of American officials are calling for this “freeze for freeze,” which has also been proposed by North Korea, China and Russia.

In an August 14, 2017 poll, 76% of Americans said they want diplomacy to resolve the North Korean nuclear crisis. We call for an end to dangerous brinkmanship and the start of talks!

We demand:

1.) Stop reckless brinkmanship; Start Talks Now! Suspend US-ROK military rehearsals for war in exchange for North Korea’s halting of nuclear and missile testing.
2.) De-escalate tensions and build mutual trust by reuniting Korean Americans with their families in North Korea, and repatriating the remains of US servicemen still in North Korea.
3.) Start the peace process towards signing a peace treaty to formally end the Korean War.
4.) Senators Schumer and Gillibrand must support SJR 200 for a U.S. No First Strike Policy and take these weapons AWAY from the impulsive actions of 45!

“Yuri Kageyama, with her epic poem, has earned a place among the leading world poets. This work proves that the poet as a journalist can expose conditions that are ignored by the media.” _ Ishmael Reed

Fukushima is the worst nuclear disaster since Chernobyl. It will take decades and billions of dollars to keep the multiple meltdowns under control. Spewed radiation has reached as far as the American West Coast. Some 100,000 people were displaced from the no-go zone. But, six years after 3.11, the story hardly makes headlines.

Journalist Yuri Kageyama turns to poetry, dance, theater, music and film, to remind us that the human stories must not be forgotten. Carla Blank, who has directed plays in Xiangtan and Ramallah, as well as collaborated with Suzushi Hanayagi and Robert Wilson, brings together a multicultural cast of artists to create provocative theater. Performing as collaborators are actors/dancers Takemi Kitamura, Monisha Shiva, Shigeko Sara Suga and musicians Stomu Takeishi, Isaku Kageyama, Kouzan Kikuchi and Joe Small. Lighting design by Blu. Video of Fukushima by Yoshiaki Tago.

NEWS FROM FUKUSHIMA is a literary prayer for Japan. It explores the friendship between women, juxtaposing the intimately personal with the catastrophic. The piece, which had a debut run at La MaMa in New York in 2015, continues to develop and premieres on the West Coast.
